Sinopsis

The Zhao family faced tragedy, leaving only their daughter Xiaocao, who was taken in by Zhao Erhu and his wife. In a rural setting that favored sons, Xiaocao was treated poorly by her aunt, who made her do heavy chores and denied her food. When Xiaocao learned she was to be sent away, she ran to her father Zhao Dahus's grave to cry. A kind couple, Chen Qing and his wife, found her and took her in. Twelve years later, Xiaocao was accepted into university, but her family's poverty prevented her from attending. Choosing to hide her acceptance letter, she stayed home to care for her elderly parents. Chen Qing discovered her secret and, without her knowledge, sought work payments from villagers to fund her education. The community rallied to support her, and Chen Qing reminded Xiaocao of their kindness.
